Fair, clear refunds

This policy explains when you may receive a refund for Certinite subscription or plan fees, how commercial certificate purchases are handled, and how to contact support with your transaction details.

Last updated: April 27, 2026

Refund policy essentials

  • 14-day subscription window

For many paid plans, a full refund may be available within 14 days of initial purchase if you have not exceeded light fair-use thresholds we publish (for example a small number of automated domains).

  • CA-governed certificate fees

When you purchase certificates through flows tied to a public or commercial CA, that CA’s issuance and refund rules apply once validation progresses.

  • Support-first resolution

If billing looks wrong, open a ticket with invoice or charge identifiers—we aim to resolve good-faith issues quickly.

Overview

We want you to succeed with Certinite. This Refund Policy describes how we handle refund requests for fees paid to Certinite for software access, plans, and related services, separate from fees collected directly by certificate authorities.

If a separate order form or enterprise agreement specifies different refund terms for your organization, that document controls for the covered purchase. Consumer protection laws in your country may also give you rights that cannot be waived here.

Who and what this policy covers

This policy applies to customers who pay Certinite directly through our billing provider for subscription or usage-based plans, unless another contract states otherwise.

It does not replace the Terms of Service or Privacy Policy. Reading those documents together gives the full picture of your relationship with Certinite.

Subscriptions and paid plans

For paid automation quota or subscription plans, you may be eligible for a full refund of Certinite fees within fourteen (14) days of your initial purchase of that plan, provided you have not excessively utilized the service during that period (for example, automated more than five (5) domains in aggregate).

Renewals, add-on purchases, and plan upgrades may be treated differently; we will confirm eligibility based on your billing history and usage records at the time of the request.

We may deny or partially approve refund requests that appear to abuse promotional pricing, circumvent plan limits, or conflict with fraud-prevention checks.

Trials, credits, and free tiers

No-fee trials and promotional credits generally do not have cash refund value. If you convert from a trial to a paid plan, the subscription section above applies to the first paid charge.

Premium and commercial TLS certificates

Refunds for premium DV, OV, or EV certificates purchased through integrated commercial flows are subject to the policies of the respective certificate authority (CA) and any reseller terms in effect.

If a certificate fails to issue due to CA rejection or an error clearly attributable to the issuance pipeline before successful issuance, we will work with you and, where applicable, process an automatic refund of Certinite-mediated certificate fees according to partner rules.

After a certificate has been successfully issued—and especially after it has been downloaded or installed—it typically cannot be refunded because the CA has fulfilled its obligation.

Situations we usually cannot refund

Examples include:

  • Fees for months or usage periods that already completed without a timely dispute.
  • Failures caused solely by customer misconfiguration, DNS issues, firewall blocks, or third-party outages outside Certinite’s control.
  • Account termination for material breach of the Terms of Service.
  • Taxes or government charges we remit on your behalf, except where a correcting adjustment is required.

How to request a refund

Contact support through the channel listed on the Certinite website or in your workspace. Include your workspace identifier, the approximate date of charge, the last four digits of the payment method if applicable, and a short description of the issue.

We may ask clarifying questions or usage screenshots to verify eligibility. Please respond within the timeframe we specify so we can complete review promptly.

Processing and timing

Approved refunds are typically initiated to the original payment method within five (5) to ten (10) business days. Your bank or card issuer may take additional time to post the credit.

If the original payment method is closed or cannot receive credits, we will propose a reasonable alternative that complies with anti-fraud requirements.

Chargebacks and payment disputes

If you initiate a chargeback or payment dispute, we may pause service and limit account actions until the matter is resolved. Please contact us before disputing with your bank so we can attempt a faster resolution.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Refund Policy to reflect new products or legal requirements. The “Last updated” date will change when we publish revisions. Material changes may be announced by email or in-product notice where appropriate.

For refund questions, use the same support channel as billing inquiries. Enterprise customers may also use the contact path defined in their agreement.

Refund FAQ

Does a refund cancel my certificates?

Refunding Certinite plan fees does not automatically revoke certificates already issued by a CA. Certificate lifecycle is governed by CA validity periods and your configuration. You can remove or uninstall certificates according to your operational procedures.

Can I get a partial refund mid-cycle?

Unless required by law or expressly offered in your plan, mid-cycle refunds are uncommon. We evaluate requests case by case for billing errors or documented service issues.

What if I paid in a non-USD currency?

Refunds are processed in the currency and through the processor used at checkout where possible. Currency fluctuations between purchase and refund may affect the amount your institution credits.

Who decides if my usage was “excessive” for the 14-day rule?

We review automated domain counts, API activity, and workspace events tied to your account. We apply the thresholds described in this policy in good faith and will explain the basis for a decision when we decline a request.

Need help with a charge?
