Automate SSL/TLS Certificate Management on cPanel and WHM Servers

August 4, 2026•Certinite Team

Connect a cPanel account or a server-wide WHM token once, and every domain on it renews and installs its own certificate.

cPanel / WHM

cPanel powers a large share of the world's shared and reseller hosting, and every account on it terminates TLS for one or more websites. AutoSSL covers the simple cases, but it is tied to a single certificate authority, offers no visibility across servers, and cannot issue the organisation-validated or premium certificates many customers require. The moment you step outside its defaults you are back to pasting certificate text into a web form.

Doing that by hand does not scale. A hosting provider with hundreds of accounts has hundreds of independent expiry dates, and a single missed renewal shows a browser interstitial to a paying customer. Uploading the certificate, the private key and the CA bundle into the right account, for the right domain, every ninety days, is exactly the kind of repetitive work that eventually goes wrong.

Why cPanel SSL Automation with Certinite?

Certinite talks directly to the cPanel UAPI and the WHM API. You can connect either an account-scoped API token on port 2083, which manages that one account, or a root/reseller token on port 2087, which manages every account on the server. Certinite resolves each domain's document root, places the ACME HTTP-01 challenge file through the panel's own file API, and installs the issued certificate with SSL::install_ssl or WHM's installssl.

Because the panel does the challenge placement, cPanel targets are not limited to email-validated commercial certificates: free Let's Encrypt certificates work end to end, and so do premium GoGetSSL products. The integration is fully agentless, so nothing is installed on the server and nothing runs as root beyond the API token you issue and can revoke at any time.

To consolidate certificate management across every cPanel and WHM server you operate, replace ad-hoc AutoSSL exceptions with a single audited pipeline, and stop tracking expiry dates in a spreadsheet, start using Certinite's cPanel automation today.
